Why Join The Mid-Michigan Steelheaders

Below are some great reasons to join us in the Mid Michigan Steelheaders.  Our monthly meetings are open for anyone to attend and see if you want to be a part of our organization.  

 

  • The state association provides a voice for Michigan’s salmon and steelhead anglers to Federal and State Government and the DNR.  Your membership includes both state and local level

  •  We hold monthly local meetings where you get to be with other people that are interested in fishing in general, but specifically for salmon, steelhead, and walleye.

    •   Fishing outings to many ports on the Great Lakes or Rivers  -- often there is a need for individuals to complete crews on the boats (great way to learn about our fishing and/or go if you don’t have your own boat – all it costs is helping with expenses!)  

    • Many of the fishing outings have an optional tournament between participants that allows a little friendly competition

    • Summer Picnic where we relax with other Steelheaders and their families

    • December Christmas Party – a great Michigan Fish-boil is the main course and everyone brings their favorite dish to pass for a nice dinner, then the yearly awards are handed out, and we socialize with our friends, dance, and listen to music. Just about as much fun as anyone can have without actually fishing.

    • Summer Lugnuts baseball game.  Started in 2007 we get a bunch of tickets and go watch the Lansing Lugnuts minor league team.  Hotdogs, pop, beer…

  • Many of our chapter sponsors are part of the Mid Michigan Pays to Belong Program and offer discounts to our members

    • Lansing Gander Mountain gives Mid Michigan members a 20% discount on purchases by using Gander Bucks cards ($10 off $50)

    • FishDogCo gives Mid Michigan members a 10% discount on purchases

    • Bridge Street Pub in Dimondale gives Mid Michigan members a 10% discount on purchases

    • Leo’s Outpost and Leo’s Lodge in Lansing gives Mid Michigan members a 10% discount on purchases

    • Grand River Bait and Tackle gives Mid Michigan members a 10% discount on purchases

    • ABC Fire Extinguisher gives discounts to Mid Michigan members (and usually has products at the monthly meetings).
